Tried to sail from El Yaque to Coche, with boat support. Left on 102 FSW,
5.7m, totally stacked since heading pretty much down wind. Hung around in
water for ages at start waiting for others :( so got cold. Then off
again... but wind ran out, only able to plane very occasionally down swell,
huge feeling of exposure (sharks?!), no land for miles in any direction.
Blobbed for what felt like hours, others pulled ahead. Eventually fell in,
unable to waterstart, too tired to uphaul (also cold!) and got in boat for
last 1/3rd of trip. Sailed on Coche, nearly made first 2 duck gybes ever !
:) since it's offshore and dead flat. Then the trip back, packed up the
kit, loaded the boat, initial smiles followed by dread and cold as we
braced ourselves against the waves and slapping water. Then we went
karting!! Great session, but only because I survived, and very much a
turning point...
